The Connecticut Society of Genealogists, Inc. presents
“Genealogy Masterclass: Discovering Your Hispanic Heritage” with Irisneri Alicea Flores
Bio:
After a twenty-year career in Human Resources and obtaining her Certificate in Genealogy Research from Boston University, Irisneri decided to pursue her true passion of Genealogy and helping Latinos/Latina find their family history. She was inspired throughout her life while listening to the stories of her maternal Abuelitos, growing up in the 1940s in Puerto Rico and then their experiences when they moved to New York City in the 1950s. Also, when she started this journey for the first time through the documents, she was able to connect with her paternal grandmother whom she never got to meet. That is when her mission and dream was born, now Irisneri dedicates her life to help others connect with their ancestors, empower and help them heal through the knowledge of their family history. While she does help others by doing the research for them, she is also passionate to speak and highlight the resources that many are not aware of that are out there for free or very little cost. Also shares her own tips on how to start their research and how to navigate Hispanic documents.
