Tolland County, Connecticut

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Tolland County is located in northeastern Connecticut, bordered on the east by Windham County, to the north by Massachusetts, on the west by Hartford County, and to the south by New London County. Connecticut's youngest county, it is the second smallest in land mass. The total land area covered by Tolland County is 410 square miles.

The 2000 U.S. Federal Census reported a countywide population of 136,364 (4.0% of the state total). Major towns in Tolland County include Vernon (28,063), Mansfield (20,720), and Tolland (13,146). Tolland County is also home to the University of Connecticut at Storrs (Mansfield CT).
