History
Brief: |
This was originally part of Fairfield and the section was known as Lower Seven Miles. Settlement was delayed until 1730, partially due to a boundary dispute between New York and Connecticut. In 1740 the General Assembly granted New Fairfield the privileges of a town. In October 1728, New Fairfield was annexed to Fairfield County. Town vital records begin 1867. |
