History
Brief: |
The town of Windham granted this area permission to form an Ecclesiastical Society in December 1716. It became known as Windham Village or Canada (Canady/ Kennedy?) Parish. In 1786 the Parish was made the town of Hampton, taking land from Brooklyn, Canterbury, Mansfield, Pomfret and Windham. Town vital records begin 1786. Barbour collection records cover 1786-1851. |
