History Brief:
The Indians called this land Pachaug and limited title was purchased from Uncas in 1640. It lay within the town of Preston which was divided into two Ecclesiastical Societies in October 1716. The North Society later became Griswold. Griswold was incorporated in October 1815. Town Birth records begin 1738. Marriage records begin 1737. Death records begin 1754.
