History
Brief: |
Men from Boston attempted to establish a settlement here in 1685 but did not succeed. In May 1749 Abbington Parish was laid out. It October 1752, the Court designated it the Parish of Brookline, taking land from Pomfret and Canterbury. Brooklyn became a town in 1785. Town vital records begin 1770. Barbour collection records cover 1786-1850. |
