History
Brief: |
Settlement began about 1697. On petition of the farmers of northern Stratford, this section became Repton Parish in May 1717. In 1789 the town was incorporated as Huntington for Samuel Huntington, then Gov. of Connecticut. On 5 April 1919, the General Assembly renamed the town Shelton in honor of Edward N.
