History
Brief: |
On 10 May 1663, the Deputies of Saybrook presented to the General Court their intention to set up a second plantation on the east side of the Connecticut River. On 13 February 1665, the Plantation of Lyme was established. In October 1678 it became the First Society of Lyme. In May 1667, the Court established it as the town of Lyme. Within Lyme the town of South Lyme was set off about 1855 and was incorporated in 1857 as the town of Old Lyme. Town vital records begin 1855. |
